Hello/Tansi. I am Metis from Treaty 8 territory and MNA Region 1. I am a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. My Masters of Counselling In Applied Psychology was completed at the University in Calgary. I am also an approved Mental Health Counselling Provider with the Indigenous Services Canada NIHB Program. For over 15 years, I have worked with non-Indigenous and Indigenous children, adolescents, and adults in non-profit settings, schools, Children’s Services, and private practice settings in Treaties 8, 7, 6 and MNA Regions 1, 3, 4. It is a privilege to support individuals and families with the difficulties they are facing. My sincere intention is to provide a warm welcoming space for people to heal and to develop healthy relationships with self and others. My foundation of practice is based on the belief that people have an innate ability to heal and be whole given the right conditions. I facilitate this with compassion, curiosity, and creativity in a collaborative way, through the lenses of culture, diversity, trauma, and neuroscience.
For a holistic approach to healing and growth, I combine Western psychological practices with Indigenous practices. These include: Person-Centred Therapy; Attachment therapies; Trauma therapies (EMDR; Neurosequential Model), Internal Family Systems); Play & Expressive Art therapies, Addictions counselling; Body-based therapies (Somatic Experiencing, Bodynamics; Yoga); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Motivational Interviewing; Solution-focused therapy; Psychoeducation; and Indigenous cultural practices as taught by Indigenous Knowledge keepers, Elders, and in ceremonies.
