Sydney Addai has a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Sydney is also a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.

Sydney has worked with adolescent and adult populations in non-profit and private practice settings. She has treated individuals with complex comorbid diagnoses involved in the Children’s Services system and the youth criminal justice system. She is passionate about serving youth and adults by helping them to feel heard, supported, and understood while also challenging them to help enhance their overall well-being.

Sydney has also worked with individuals who have been marginalized. She understands the unique experiences associated with racism, microaggressions, and the resulting interpersonal relationship power imbalances. Sydney also recognizes the challenges of trying to navigate differences that arise between collectivistic and individualistic cultures that can be experienced by those living in a multicultural society.

Sydney uses a client-centered, integrative, and trauma-informed approach to therapy. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) techniques, Solution Focused therapy, and other trauma informed modalities. She believes therapy is a collaborative process, encouraging clients to develop a sense of agency as they work toward achieving their therapeutic goals.
