Read MoreSydney Addai holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She is also a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA). With experience in non-profit and private practice settings, Sydney has worked with adolescents and adults, particularly those involved with Children’s Services and the youth criminal justice system. She is dedicated to helping clients feel heard and supported, while also challenging them to enhance their well-being.
Sydney is deeply passionate about serving marginalized individuals and understands the impact of racism, microaggressions, and cultural power imbalances. She also recognizes the challenges faced by individuals navigating between collectivistic and individualistic cultures in a multicultural society.
Using a client-centered, integrative, and trauma-informed approach, Sydney incorporates various therapeutic techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. She believes therapy is a collaborative process that fosters personal agency as clients work toward their therapeutic goals.
