Welcome, I’m glad you’re here! I’m Vivienne and I’m originally from England. I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work, a Bachelors degree in International Indigenous Studies, both from the University of Calgary, and an Honours degree from the UK. I am a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW). I am a trained EMDR therapist and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS-I). I enjoy working with teens (16+) and adults.
We all face challenges in life and sometimes we need some extra support in finding the way forward. I know from experience that it takes courage to take that first step to come to therapy and start your healing journey. You may be struggling with trauma, stress, anxiety and/or depression. Perhaps you feel like your relationships are not where you want them to be, or maybe you feel like you are riding an emotional rollercoaster and its time to get off. Challenges like these can really get you down, feel exhausting, and leave you feeling stuck. No matter what you are going through, I’d like to offer you a place where you feel deeply accepted, heard, and gently challenged to move forward. We will work collaboratively to help you find a way through. We’ll connect with your internal values, strengths, and resources and discover ways of coping that make sense to you. Together we’ll lift the weight of old stuff, find meaning in your struggles, and grow your sense of self-compassion, wellbeing, and resilience.
I have experience working with youth and adults from culturally diverse backgrounds who struggle with the impacts of trauma, societal, and life challenges in community mental health and school settings. I use a holistic, culturally sensitive, and integrative approach to therapy, which includes EMDR, polyvagal therapy, somatic techniques, and other trauma sensitive modalities.
