Alison Isaak

Alison Isaak is a is a registered  psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). She has a Masters of Education in School & Applied Psychology from the University of Calgary and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Inclusive Education from Athabasca University. Alison has been in the education field for over 20 years. Her roles have included teaching (Kindergarten- Grade 8), mentoring new teachers, staff counselling, and psychoeducation presentations. Most recently, she was a junior high guidance counsellor, providing individual and group therapy to address issues of cyberbullying, relationships, self-harm, gender and sexual identity, study skills, and a variety of mental health topics. Alison has worked in both public and private schools, helping students reach their potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Alison is passionate about bridging psychology and education. She provides psycho-educational assessment services for preschool, school aged children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of specialization include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), specific learning disorders (LD’s), intellectual disabilities, mental health concerns such as anxiety, and depression, and severe behavior concerns. Alison collaborates with parents, educators, and mental health professionals to develop the most accurate picture of how an individual learns and provides tangible strategies to enhance success at home, school, and in the community. Alison is a trained EMDR therapist. She has firsthand experience using EMDR with a therapist after a serious horse-riding accident and can speak to the life-changing healing process that EMDR therapy can provide.
